About

Volunteers should be comfortable working with disadvantaged students and diverse populations. Our students are primarily low-income, first-generation, and academically at risk, but what they all have in common is a desire to improve and succeed. Our students all want to go to college, and they need the support, encouragement, and assistance of BSU volunteers to help get them there.

Volunteers will help high school students (grades 9-12) with their homework. Volunteers will also work one-on-one with students on personal and academic goal-setting, college prep research, and grade monitoring.

Occasionally, volunteers may be asked to help with other small projects, like putting together binders or work packets, assisting with activities during a workshop, or decorating a bulletin board.
