About

Ross Community Center: This is a 12 week commitment. Transportation provided.

After School Program The goal of the After School Program is to inspire a love of learning and discovery. In addition to academic support the center strives to bring new methods of academic and creative discovery. This is made possible through our community partnerships and resources. These community partners include Ball State, Purdue Extension and the 4-H Club. This program is directly under the coordination of the education coordinator, Rachel Foster, any questions or concerns should be directed to her. (See contact information listed at the end of this document.)

Demographics: Kids grades K-5
The afterschool program supports kids from Muncie community schools as well as for us in Muncie‘s homeschool population.

Educational support:
One-on-one tutoring, homework help, project-based learning, and learning through play. We work closely with parents and teachers to best support each child and their individual needs.

Volunteer procedures and expectations:
ATTIRE: Volunteers are expected to dress appropriately for the weather. Including coats, rain gear and the appropriate footwear. The kids will play outside year round. This includes snow, volunteers are expected to participate. No exposed midriffs. Shirts must cover the midriff on all sides. No exposed cleavage. Straps such as those found on tank tops, muscle shirts, halter tops, tube tops and/or spaghetti strap tops are not appropriate. Tops that expose the back are not appropriate. EXPECTATIONS: The number one role of volunteers is to interact with the children enrolled in the afterschool program. This includes homework support. The kids are at the center to learn but also have fun and to exercise social and emotional growth. Volunteers are instrumental in providing the one- on- one attention many of the students need.
