About
We have a variety of volunteer roles available.
Welcome Center Ambassador: You make the first impression by greeting guests, handling admission, and helping with gift shop purchases. You offer information and answer questions because you have fantastic customer service skills!
Tour Docent: Trained well by a friendly volunteer corps, you greet and give house tours to guests, both for prearranged groups and walk-ins. You have a gift for communicating well and adapting your approach. Fair but firm with house rules, you explain the history of the president, his campaign, his accomplishments, his family, life at home and in the White House, and the museum's exquisite furnishings.
Educational Program Assistant: Your focus is on sharing history with elementary students, captivating them with great teaching skills and helping keep them engaged on a tour of the museum. You also help our education team with classroom preparation and student programming.
Research Assistant: You locate information for the museum staff. This involves research in the museum library as well as in other libraries, using microfilm, and online. You become familiar with handwriting and transcribe letters to expand the research base.
Special Event Assistant: You join us in celebrating special occasions, including the 4th of July, Wicket World of Croquet and the Presidential Egg Roll. These events help support the Presidential Site's mission by expanding museum recognition and community engagement.
