This event was tremendously organized by Ashley Waddell, Alpha Gamma Delta's community service coordinator. As an organization, we helped make 800 sack lunches for Secret Families. I was working alongside my sisters making turkey sandwiches in preparation for their distribution. This event was AWESOME!! :)
While I was volunteering, I worked with students and assisted teachers with their duties. In the morning, the school participated in "walk to school day," so I helped teachers ensure that their students stayed together and enjoyed the experience. Later in the day, I assisted with recess, helped students with math problems, and worked on reading skills with students. I really enjoy volunteering at West Noble Elementary School because I get to interact with the faculty and students, as well as gain meaningful experience as a pre-service teacher.
As an Honors Peer Mentor, I served the Ball State Honors College and Honors freshman by volunteering to help incoming students adjust to college life. Volunteering as a peer mentor helped me develop leadership skills, connect to new students, and serve the university.
