I got to play with the little kids this week and they had so much energy. It was a great bonding time with the children and with the other volunteers (and staff).
We were in a different place this week, but we made it work. I was able to meet new children and play dollhouse and basketball with them. Some of the children were a little wild today, but we got through it!
It was a good day full of stories and drawing. I got to connect with one of the kids that is usually more shy.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful at the event. I worked the refreshment table and helped pass out drinks the entire time (and stayed after to help clean up the gym). I got a bit lost while going to the place, but otherwise everything went smoothly.
This week we made Valentine's Day Cards with the children and had a lot of fun with that. I got to learn more about what the children are interested in and we talked about Pokemon and our favorite movies. It was a lot of fun!
Muncie Animal Care- washing the dog and cat bowls was fun and I could see the impact we were making (dishes were constantly being taken away to feed new animals, so we knew we were helping). However, once we were done, we were not given clear instructions on what to do next. That part was very confusing, otherwise it was good.
The leaders were very helpful and friendly once we got to the site with all of the children. There was a bit of confusion on where to go and times, but other than that it was a great experience. The creative activity with creating Ball State cardinals was fun, and the children enjoyed it too. We told knock knock jokes to pass the time, which created a fun (and funny) environment while crafting.
*Sorry about the change, I did not confirm the impact correctly.
Training was very informative overall. It was engaging and the trainers were very helpful and created a productive discussion. However, there was no clear training on the basics of where to park or where we would be volunteering at.
