Two of my classmates and I volunteered our time and design experience to redesign a high school teacher's classroom, free of charge. We created custom posters, plotted them ourselves, then installed all of the furniture and materials we bought at the school one afternoon. The teacher, Tracy Speakman, was ecstatic with the work we did, and her students love the new, functional space with a Harry Potter theme.
This was such an amazing event! So great to get to help a child have a great Christmas. I will definitely be participating next year!
At this event, my friends and I were able to help decorate a Christmas tree for a child's room at Riley Hosptial for Children. We helped create ornaments, put them on the tree, and make a tree topper. The entire tree had a Disney theme, which ended up being very cute. The tree was a hit with the hospital!
Today I volunteered at Crew Carwash on behalf of the Joseph Maley Foundation. There we interacted with customers, told them about the mission and purpose of the Joseph Maley Foundation, and also collected donations. It was a great experience to see the public excited about helping serve children of all abilities.
I participated in the 13th Annual White River Clean-Up. My group was in charge of cleaning up around the High Street Bridge from Wheeling Avenue to Walnut Street, around Muncie Central High School. It was great to help clean up trash along the river and in the river, as well as see how big of an impact our job had on the community and the environment.
I was a college leader for the Cardinal Ritter High School's Senior Christian Awakening Retreat. I helped set up different activities, led discussions and activities, facilitated good behavior between the students, and made sure the students made it on time to all events. I also did any and all tasks that the campus minister or faculty leaders needed.
