Outpatient Rehab at Riverview Health Westfield Hospital observing and assisting occupational therapist as needed. Assisted patients with exercise machines and tools, along with making treatment plans for patients.
I went into East Washington Academy with my EXSC 301 professor and a few classmates to teach 1st graders about exercise. A book called Henry Gets Moving was read to them, in which Henry himself learns about exercise and eating healthier. This project was started by my EXSC 301 professor and every Wednesday during the months of October and November students who wanted to volunteer to help could go to the school. This experience was absolutely amazing. I was able to use the handouts I made in my EXSC 301 class to give to the class that they were able to complete some with us while we were there and some to take home to have their parents help them with. Every time I came to the school they were ecstatic to start exercising. I would love to continue this next semester!
Teaching Assistant for EXSC 201: Human Performance Concepts and Assessment. Aided in helping students with FMS testing along with correct form and performance of exercises. I was able to use my experience in this class to help others succeed in this course along with being able to help them with form and technique of exercises that they may use for their clients in the future.
The residents played bingo and I played as well to help my resident win! It was a lot of fun and I would definitely do this again!
I helped wrap a variety of gifts for boys and girls! I also helped to clean up the leftover wrapping paper.
I helped decorate Bethel Pointe for the start of the holiday season! I decorated the entry of Bethel Pointe, bulletin boards, and the other rooms with Christmas decorations. I enjoyed being there and getting advice from the residents to where decorations should go! Such a great day for holiday cheer and decorating!
I helped to serve cupcakes, ice cream and drinks at the nursing home for the individuals who lived there and the guest who came to visit, to celebrate November birthdays.
