My last time volunteering at Trinity Preschool for the semester. I helped gather a lot of graduation items, such as caps and gowns. Assisted after nap time with crafts and activities. A lot of the kids now recognize and know me, which makes volunteering here even more fun.
I had a wonderful time volunteering at the preschool yesterday! I helped out my mom with her class which was completely fun and exciting. I played with the kids during recess and then helped the kids get ready for nap time. Then while the kids napped, I helped her prepare crafts for the upcoming week. Next, we did a counting craft with the kids and then allowed them to have some play time before their parents arrived.
While the preschool is on spring break, I went there to help my mom out with some things to prepare for during the last few weeks of school. We gathered the blue and white caps/gowns to be washed. Then we started preparing a lot of the crafts projects for next week when the kids came back. We made walrus puppets and webs from Charlottes Web. I do miss seeing all the kids though!
This was my first day at Community Church. The staff was very kind and gave ample instructions about how to interact with the children and what was expected of them. I had a great time watching the kids play glow-in-the-dark dodge ball and helping them with their homework. I am excited to come back next week!
Really excited to be working at this elementary school. Staff was super helpful and made the experience very welcoming.
Today was my last day working at Trinity Preschool, as for now since I have completed all of my required service hours and I have sorority recruitment practice coming up for the next couple of weeks. Today, I spent time in the two-year-old class, and I finally got to see these children growing in their knowledge. I watched one boy complete several of the matching sets with ease, and it really impressed me how smart these children really are. I finished the day helping my mom organize the supply room and cutting out activities for the classrooms. I have overall really enjoyed my time at the preschool, and really hope I can come back to volunteer again soon!
Fourth time working at the preschool, and this time it was very calm. I spent the morning playing with the children before the assistant arrived, and then the rest of the day I spent laminating practice papers for the teachers to use within their classroom.
Today was my third day at the preschool, and I was extremely nervous. My mom had mentioned that I would be covering her spot as an assistant in the two-year-old classroom. I had never been on my own with several young children, so I was nervous as I knew very little of their names and how to act around them. Brie, my supervisor, was kind enough to join me until I felt comfortable in the room. To my surprise, I found it extremely fun and entertaining to be able to interact with the children as they played before the morning meeting. After that, I went around to take attendance of each of the classrooms, and then I spent the rest of my day laminating practice papers for the kids to learn skills such as counting or the alphabet.
Second time at the preschool, except this time we sadly did not have a two-hour delay. I helped in the two-year-old classroom, assisting the kids with decorating their cereal boxes for Valentine's day. I then helped move some of the Christmas decorations up into the storage room, and bring down some of the totes they would need in the upcoming month. Finally, I started laminating some practice sheets for the kids to use in order to start learning the alphabet. All the teachers were, again, super helpful and encouraging. Sadly, I won't be working next week because of President's Day but I can't wait to be back next next Monday!
